SASLA, the South African Securities Lending Association, is an industry forum established in 1989 to represent the common interests of the securities lending industry in South Africa. SASLA assists in the orderly, efficient and competitive development of the South African securities lending market. In this regard, SASLA works closely with regulators and has representation on several equity market committees. The Association has contributed to a number of major market initiatives, including the development of the SA Stock Borrowing and Lending Code of Guidance and the industry standard lending agreements, the Global Master Securities Lending Agreement (GMSLA).
Today, SASLA has over 30 members comprising banks, insurance companies, pension funds, asset managers and service providers.
